Triclosan is an antimicrobial agent that is added to household and industrial products to prevent bacterial and fungal growth. Triclosan’s chemical structure has striking similarities to thyroid hormones and to several known endocrine disruptors including diethylstilbestrol (DES) and bisphenol A (BPA).
